Update regarding Spectators- Phase 3 guidelines

Phase 3 guidelines in regards to Spectators
Posted on 03/24/2021

Greetings students, parents, and community members,

In alignment with Governor Inslee's announcement allowing all Washington counties to move to Phase 3 of the Healthy Washington Plan beginning March 22nd, the WIAA provided updated information pertaining to participation and spectator capacity at school athletic events. It is important to note that physical distancing of six feet of separation between individuals/groups is still required in all seating arrangements. Even at the allowable 25% capacity for facilities with permanent seating up to 1600 spectators, the six-foot physical distancing requirement mandated by Governor's office and the DOH means that Royal School District's stadium seating is still limited to a total of 295 available seats, including some additional group seating, using a socially-distanced arrangement.

The seating at indoor athletic events(volleyball) will remain the same, with less than 100 total available seats. Furthermore, coaches, players, officials, etc., will still count towards the spectator capacity.

Moving forward, we will continue using a pass list for each home event. All Royal student-athletes will receive two family members' passes for the season. Beyond the pass list, any available seats will be released on a first-come, first-served basis. A few group seating sections are available for reservation by larger groups at the Varsity football games. We encourage you to contact Deana Freeman via email (dfreeman@royalsd.org) if you would like to reserve one of these sections.

All health and safety protocols and requirements will remain in place.  All spectators must wear face masks the entire time they are at the facility/event. The two family members on a student athlete's pass list may sit together. The remaining seating will be spaced at 6 feet. Seats will be clearly marked.

Please continue to watch our Athletics webpage (royalsd.org/athletics) and Facebook page (facebook.com/rsdknights) for updates. You can find the current season's schedule online at royalsd.org/athletics/HS-athletic-calendar.

Thank you,
