A Tradition of Pride and Excellence
Royal School District’s schools are located in Royal City, Washington and positioned in the heart of Central Washington, 17 miles east of the Columbia River Vantage Bridge. Geographically, our District is one of the largest in the state, covering approximately 390 square miles, stretching 42 miles wide between the Columbia River and the Grant/Adams County line (15 miles west of Othello). We serve more than 1,750 students ranging from preschool through 12th grade as well as special needs students through age 21.
The District’s Mission ensures an excellent education for all students. We are committed to providing a positive social emotional and physically safe learning environment. We make every effort to produce a high quality education system that continues to foster our sense of pride and promotes excellence for all. The District continuously supports school improvement through Professional Learning Communities, PBIS and our Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) initiative.
The District is comprised of one preschool, one elementary (k-3), one intermediate school (4-6), one middle school (7-8) and one high school (9-12). Student enrollment continues to grow steadily at an average of 30 new students per year over the past ten years. In the fall of 2019, Red Rock Elementary will have completed an extensive remodel project. Thanks to the community’s support of a school bond in February of 2019, the District will be undertaking several modernization projects including the bus garage, middle school, high school and high school gym. Safety has been a key focus of these projects. By the end of 2021, all of our school buildings will either be new or recently remodeled and updated.
Living in rural Central Washington offers the experience of a friendly and tight-knit community with tremendous support for our schools. We boast gorgeous views of farmland and varied terrain. There is an abundant variety of outdoor activities all within an hour’s drive, including water and snow skiing, boating, hunting, fishing biking and other river and lake activities.
