Dear Families and Community Members,
We understand that recent federal directives have raised concerns about potential immigration enforcement actions in schools. Please know that the Royal School District is committed to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all students, regardless of immigration status.
Our district policies are designed to protect the safety, privacy, and rights of every student. These policies require that any law enforcement or outside agency personnel provide proper identification and legal documentation, such as a warrant or court order, before they can access students or school property. Additionally, personal student information, including immigration status, will not be shared without parental consent or a court-issued subpoena.
When similar concerns arose during President Trump’s previous term, no incidents involving immigration enforcement occurred in our district. This history reinforces the effectiveness of our established policies in keeping our schools safe and focused on learning.
The Royal School District’s commitment to our students and families remains unchanged. We will continue to carefully review all requests from outside agencies, follow all legal requirements, and prioritize our schools as safe spaces for learning.
Please note, however, that the district does not provide legal advice to families or students. If you have specific legal concerns, we encourage you to consult with an attorney or a qualified legal professional. For general questions or concerns about district policies, please feel free to contact the district office for support.
We value the trust you place in us to protect your children and provide them with a safe and nurturing educational environment.
Sincerely,
Roger W. Trail
Royal School District Superintendent
